Biker’s death: AAP says Delhi govt has not learnt any lesson from past incidents

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday came down heavily on the BJP-led Delhi government over the death of a biker who fell into a pothole in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area.

AAP’s Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj said the BJP government had learned nothing from past incidents. “Shocking!!! An innocent biker fell into a deep pothole on the road, got trapped, remained there all night, and died,” he posted on X.

Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP was responsible for the youth’s death. “This is not an accident, it is a murder. The BJP has learned nothing from the incident in Noida (where a software engineer died in similar circumstances). Grave negligence and an irresponsible attitude have become the hallmark of the BJP government, the cost of which is being borne by the common people,” Kejriwal posted on X.

Sources said the biker was returning home at night from his office in Rohini late on Thursday night. His bike fell into a pit dug up allegedly by Jal Board in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area for construction work.

The biker, identified as Kamal, was a resident of Kailashpuri, south-west Delhi. Sources said Kamal’s family got worried when he did not reach home. According to Kamal’s relatives, they spent the entire night going around half-a-dozen police stations, including those in Janakpuri, Sagar Pur, Vikaspuri, and Rohini.

Around 7:30 am, they received a call from the police, after which they learned of the incident. Upon reaching the spot, Kamal was found inside the pit along with his bike.

Kamal’s family blames Jal Board officials for their negligence. They have also suggested the possibility that someone might have murdered Kamal and thrown him into the pit.

Police are investigating the case.
