Vadodra, Feb 5 (UNI) In a display of fearless leadership and batting brilliance, Jemimah Rodrigues inspired Delhi Capitals Women to a commanding 203 for 4 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in the final of the Women’s Premier League 2026 at the BCA Stadium here on Thursday.
Opting to bowl first, Bengaluru were up against a determined Delhi, led by Jemimah. The captain’s innings of 57 off 37 balls, studded with eight boundaries, anchored the high-scoring total and kept her team ahead at every stage.
Her calm yet aggressive approach combined with timely partnerships, first with Laura Wolvaardt (44 off 25) and later with Chinelle Henry (35* off 15), showcased her ability to inspire her teammates under pressure.
The innings also saw significant contributions from Lizelle Lee (37) and Shafali Verma (20), but it was Jemimah’s leadership on the field- guiding shot selection, orchestrating partnerships, and maintaining the scoring rate – that stood out as the driving force behind the total.
Delhi’s depth, with experienced campaigners like Marizanne Kapp and emerging talents like Niki Prasad, further bolstered the side’s confidence heading into the chase.
For Bengaluru, wickets came from Sayali Satghare, Arundhati Reddy, and Nadine de Klerk, but none could break the backbone of Delhi innings. The 10 extras conceded in wides reflected the pressure Delhi’s batswomen applied throughout the innings.
The match now sets the stage for a thrilling chase, with Bengaluru tasked to overcome a 204-run target. Yet, it is Jemimah’s fearless display, blending leadership and batting mastery, that has already left a mark on this WPL final, inspiring her team and fans alike.
