New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said the union Budget presented by the Centre reflects the vision of “Viksit Bharat” and will strengthen the country’s economy while creating fresh opportunities for the youth.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, Gupta said Delhi has received an allocation of Rs 1,348 crore in the Budget.
Gupta said that the Budget would help translate the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas into reality and take India’s progress to new heights.
“This Budget empowers the youth, strengthens the economy, and its benefits will reach every section. It would not be wrong to call it a next-generation Budget,” she said.
The Chief Minister added that Delhi will work closely with the Centre to maximize benefits from the allocations. Apart from the Rs 1,348 crore earmarked specifically for Delhi, the Centre has allocated Rs 15,380 crore under SASCI for two union Territories, Delhi and Puducherry, which will be shared between them.
She said the amount has been enhanced and the Delhi government will ensure the city receives its maximum possible share.
She also noted that Rs 13,611 crore has been provided under centrally sponsored schemes for union Territories, which will further benefit Delhi.
Gupta said central hospitals in Delhi have received enhanced funding, which will directly benefit residents. She also welcomed the Centre’s announcement of five new education hubs, saying Delhi hopes to gain from this initiative, including plans to develop Narela as an education hub.
Highlighting youth-focused measures, she said announcements related to girls’ hostels, content creation labs, AI labs for research, and IT hub development were significant and would help position Delhi as a future-ready city.
Gupta also pointed to infrastructure projects such as the Delhi Varanasi high-speed corridor, which she said would improve connectivity.
She welcomed green energy initiatives, including exemption of duty on battery energy storage systems, noting that Delhi’s push for electric vehicles and solar energy would benefit from these measures.
Gupta said the Budget has been framed with all sections in mind and assured that the Delhi government will work to ensure the city derives maximum benefit from the Centre’s allocations.
