Sant Ravidas’s inspiration fosters commitment to public welfare: CM Yogi

Lucknow, ( UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while participating in a program organised on Sunday to mark the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Sadguru Ravidas Ji, said Sant Ravidas paved the way for public welfare through the practice of karma.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the statue and auditorium of Sant Ravidas at the Sant Ravidas Math in Barabirwa, Kanpur Road.
He said that Sant Ravidas was born 649 years ago in Seer Govardhan, Kashi. Even after so many years, this society, was moving towards building ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India-Great India).
“When Sant Ravidas appeared on earth, the country was suffering from foreign invaders. Even then, he worked to uphold the purity of spiritual practice and transform it into the practice of action,” the chief minister said.
The worship he inspired every citizen to follow, in accordance with the Vaishnava tradition, emphasises the importance of action in life, purity of mind, and a commitment to public welfare.
Yogi referred to Sant Ravidas’s saying, ” Maan Changa ,to Katauti me Ganga,” and said that everything depends on karma.
“If you do good deeds, you will get good results, and if you do bad deeds, you will get bad results. Sant Ravidas paved the way for public welfare through the practice of karma,” he said.
The CM also held up a mirror to those who accuse society of discrimination. He said that Jagadguru Ramanandacharya made 12 disciples from different castes in the medieval period to unite society.
“The great work done by the saints in that era to unite society was extraordinary. The foundation of present-day India was built on that very basis. That has been our inspiration in breaking the shackles of slavery,” the chief minister said.
At the inauguration of the auditorium, CM Yogi said that the government holds great reverence for great personalities. With the construction of the auditorium, Bhajan groups, devotees, and speakers will all be able to sit together and participate in the programmes.
He said that today, approximately two lakh devotees from across the country have come to Seer Govardhan. Before 2017, there was no proper road to reach there and no langar hall. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government connected his birthplace with a four-lane road.
