Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police’s motto, “Desh Bhakti–Jan Seva” (Devotion to the Nation, Service to the People), has once again been reflected in action, as the Dial-112 Integrated Emergency Service carried out a series of life-saving rescues across the state over the past three days. Swift response and professional conduct by police teams ensured timely assistance to citizens in Vidisha, Barwani, Betul and Sagar districts.
In Vidisha’s Nateran police station area, a major tragedy was averted when a Thar jeep skidded off the road in dense fog and plunged into the Bah River due to zero visibility. On receiving the alert, the Dial-112 First Response Vehicle (FRV) rushed to the spot. Despite biting cold and darkness, FRV staff constable Gajendra Raghuvanshi and pilot Tirath Singh Ahirwar jumped into 10–12 feet deep water and successfully rescued three young women trapped inside the vehicle. In another incident, an 18-year-old woman who jumped into the Sironj dam with suicidal intent was rescued in time and shifted to hospital.
Similar acts of courage were reported elsewhere. In Barwani, police counselled and saved a 30-year-old woman attempting to jump from the Kasrawad bridge. In Sagar, a youth attempting suicide was rescued after police broke open his door. In Betul, a 20-year-old woman who consumed poison was rushed to hospital by Dial-112 staff.
These incidents underline the effectiveness of Dial-112’s quick response time and GPS-based dispatch system, reaffirming the Madhya Pradesh Police’s role as first responders in emergencies and humanitarian crises.
