New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) A 12-year-old boy was found dead in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area, bearing injuries that suggest he was brutally assaulted. Police have identified his mother’s live-in partner as the prime suspect, an official said on Friday.
Police received information about the boy at about 9:50 am and rushed to the area near the Shastri Park Chowk Loop, where the Class 7 student was found unconscious, they said.
He was immediately taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
The boy, a resident of the area, had multiple injuries, including on his head. Indicators of a severe assault and injuries to the eyes were noticed, prompting police to seek a comprehensive forensic examination.
Police said the prime suspect is the mother’s live-in partner. The child’s father had died several years ago.
“A case has been registered under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Shastri Park police station, and an investigation is underway,” a senior police officer said.
The forensic team examined the crime scene and collected evidence. Blood samples and other materials from the spot have been preserved for scientific analysis, police said.
Further investigation into this matter is ongoing by the team; further details are awaited, the official said.
