Parvesh Verma suspends 3 Delhi Jal Board ZROs, one ASO after surprise inspections

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Verma on Thursday initiated disciplinary action against officials of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) following surprise inspections in Rajendra Nagar, Kanhaiya Nagar and Ashok Vihar zones.

The Zonal Revenue Officers (ZROs) of all three areas, along with the Assistant Sub Officer (ASO) of Kanhaiya Nagar, were suspended after several public complaints pointed to administrative irregularities, delays in grievance redressal and lapses in supervision.

Residents from the affected localities had raised concerns over poor service delivery and slow response to complaints, prompting the Minister to personally review field operations and office functioning.

During the inspection, Verma checked attendance registers, complaint records and operational procedures to assess compliance with departmental norms.

Based on the findings, immediate administrative action was ordered, and senior officials were directed to begin departmental proceedings to fix responsibility and ensure corrective steps.

Addressing officials, the Minister said public offices must operate with discipline, responsibility and transparency, warning that any lapse in duty would invite strict action.

“Every officer will be answerable for the area under their charge and for the quality of public service delivered. Accountability is non-negotiable,” Verma said.

He added that no negligence in supervision or service standards would be tolerated.

Officials said that replacement officers have been instructed to take charge immediately to ensure uninterrupted functioning in the affected zones.
