New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026, citing concerns over vagueness and possible misuse.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi ordered that the 2012 UGC Regulations will continue till further orders.
The Court issued notice to the union and UGC, returnable on March 19, and suggested that the 2026 Regulations need fresh review by eminent jurists.
