MP Police showcase humane role beyond law enforcement

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: Over the past four days, a series of actions by the Madhya Pradesh Police across various districts have underscored that the force’s role extends far beyond crime control and maintenance of law and order. Through timely intervention, compassion and presence of mind, the police emerged as a dependable support system for distressed, helpless and vulnerable citizens, saving several precious lives in critical situations.

Whether it was the sensitive care of a newborn found abandoned during a crackdown on illicit liquor, a courageous rescue of an elderly man from a deadly bee attack, or swift intervention at moments of despair to prevent suicides, the police demonstrated humanity alongside professionalism. These incidents collectively highlight the force’s strong commitment to society and its readiness to act decisively in emergencies.

Datia: firm action against illicit liquor, compassion for a newborn

In Datia district, police personnel won widespread appreciation when they discovered a newborn baby alone, hungry and crying in the biting cold during a raid against illegal liquor manufacturing. While maintaining strict action against offenders, the police immediately assumed a guardian’s role. The infant was comforted, provided milk and warm clothing, and later safely handed over to family members after proper counselling.

Dewas: elderly man rescued from deadly bee attack

In a rural area of Dewas district, an elderly man came under a life-threatening attack by a swarm of bees. Upon receiving information, the police team rushed to the spot without regard for their own safety, rescued the victim and ensured his prompt admission to hospital. Doctors said the timely police action prevented serious consequences. The personnel involved have since been rewarded for their bravery.

Ujjain, Sidhi and Damoh: police intervene at moments of despair

In three separate districts, alertness and sensitivity shown by the police and Dial-112 teams saved three lives. In Ujjain’s Badnagar area, a minor girl, distressed after a family dispute and attempting to jump into the Chamla river, was rescued in time and safely reunited with her family. In Sidhi, police persuaded a youth threatening suicide atop a water tank to climb down safely after a domestic dispute. Similarly, in Damoh, police broke open a locked door with local help and saved a man who had attempted to hang himself.

These incidents reaffirm the Madhya Pradesh Police’s role as not just enforcers of the law, but as protectors of human life and dignity.
