Ranbir Kapoor confirms ‘Animal Park’; sequel to go on floors in 2027

Washington, Jan 27 (UNI) Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that the much-awaited sequel to ‘Animal’, titled ‘Animal Park’, is officially in development, though audiences will have to wait a while before it goes on floors.

The actor revealed that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with another project, and production on the sequel is unlikely to begin before 2027.

Speaking to Deadline Hollywood, Ranbir addressed the timeline and said, “The director is right now making another film. We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away.”

When asked about the status of the script, he added, “He (Reddy Vanga) just kind of flirted with what he really wants to do with the movie. He wants to make it in three parts. The second part is called Animal Park.”

Ranbir also spoke about his creative involvement in shaping the sequel, explaining, “We have been sharing ideas from the first film itself. How he wants to take the story forward. It’s very exciting because now I get to play two characters, the antagonist and the protagonist. So extremely exciting project and an extremely original director, and I’m very excited to be a part of it.”

Released in 2023, ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was a hyperviolent action drama that explored the obsessive and complex relationship between a father and son.

Ranbir played Ranvijay ‘Vijay’ Singh, whose turbulent bond with his father, portrayed by Anil Kapoor, drove the film’s narrative and set the foundation for the sequel.

At present, Ranbir is juggling some of the biggest projects of his career. He is filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’, a period drama set in the 1960s and co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, slated for release in June 2026. He will also be seen later that year as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana: Part One’.

While excitement around ‘Animal Park’ continues to grow, Ranbir’s comments make it clear that the next chapter in the franchise will not arrive before 2027.
