Delhi turns into fortress armed with hi- tech security design on R- Day

New Delhi, Jan 26 (UNI) The national capital turned into a fortress armed with latest technology on the 77th Republic Day, ensuring seamless celebrations as the ceremonial parade rolled on the Kartavya Path, and enthusiastic citizens watched the armed forces personnel and the interesting tableaus showcasing strength and culture.

The security agencies have placed technologically advanced arrangements going as per the evolving style of crimes and style of tech- based execution patterns that are being leveraged by the anti- social elements.

Delhi Police have deployed smart glasses powered by AI and video analytics, that are capable of flagging bad elements, as the equipment is linked to the crime and terror database, and can identify and point at suspects within no time, alerting the security agencies.

The arrangements on ground this time have been designed with a vision to ensure water tight security, and at the same time keeping the convenience of common people who have come to witness the parade unhindered.

With over three thousand CCTV cameras in and around the event venue, powered by video analytics, there are over ten thousand security personnel deployed in the New Delhi District equipped with advanced equipment to make sure there is no unwanted activity, and thwart untoward incidents.

The Kartavya Path and most of the roads leading to the venue were restricted for normal traffic and proper barricading and check points were put across the New Delhi District.

Speaking to UNI, a man who was coming to work towards New Delhi area said that he was quite impresses by the kind of security arrangements, as the police, despite being very alert and conducting checks, was also helpful in guiding the visitors towards the right way.

He said that he was given the right guidance by the on duty cops, who did conduct security check, but then guided him the proper way to his work force.

Meanwhile, across the sensitive locations in the city, district police have made arrangements to ensure criminal or anti- social elements are not able to disturb peace in any way.

The cops and multiple agencies are keeping a hawk’s eye on the cyber- space as well to the social media to keep a check on any unwanted or questionable content or material that could affect the situation.

In wake of the blast that took place near the Red Fort last year, the police and central agencies are on their toes and are working with a more proactive approach, considering all the intelligence inputs they received, and have considered all such aspects in the proper planning and execution of the security plans this time.

The Delhi Police is not leaving any loose-ends to ensure fool-proof security, as a senior official had said, ‘The arrangement put in place by the police “are future looking, and in keeping with the changing scenarios of crime and evolving terror modules.”

“We are using all the advancements in technology which are available to make the security for the Republic Day water-tight,” the official added.

This time there are 30 control rooms are monitoring the entire celebrations and there is no stone unturned to ensure highest precision, as cameras have been equipped with facial recognition systems that immediately red- flag suspects, as they are linked to the criminal database of the law enforcement agencies.

Intelligence and central agencies are coordinating effectively to keep a check on suspicious activities.

Earlier, the likelihood of gangsters operating as ‘foot soldiers’ for radical foreign handlers had been flagged by the agencies concerned, and the security design had kept all such intel into consideration.

Apart from deployment of large number of force personnel, special units of the police are also active and part of the arrangements, while special commandoes are in place.

Sensitive, and high footfall places are being strictly monitored round the clock, including the vital installations, and other such places.

Meanwhile, police districts that are especially on the outskirts of the city, intensified their drive against the illegal weapons and those who are involved in the business.

Apart from increased patrolling, especially in the border, as well as highly populated sensitive areas in the city, Police conducted strict vehicle checks, especially in the New Delhi district.

The capital city and its bordering areas have been fortified with multiple checkpoints at all entry and exit points to closely monitor the movement of people, goods, and vehicles by security personnel who stand guard in hordes.

Additional force personnel from different central armed police forces have been attached and deployed with Delhi Police’s district personnel to ensure a safe and incident-free national celebrations.
