PM Modi hails UP’s progress on Statehood Day, credits ‘double engine’ governance

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) ‎Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of the state’s foundation day, praising their contribution to India’s cultural heritage and highlighting what he described as the state’s remarkable transformation over the past nine years.

‎In a message posted on social media, the Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh has played an invaluable role in enriching Indian culture and heritage. He credited the progress made in the state to the combined efforts of the Centre and the state government, often referred to by the BJP as “double engine” governance.

‎“Due to the participation of the people dedicated to development and the double engine government, our state has completed a journey in the last nine years from being labelled ‘BIMARU’ to becoming a ‘bemisaal’ (exceptional) state,” PM Modi said.

‎Expressing confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s future role, the Prime Minister added that the state’s strength and potential would be crucial in keeping India’s overall development dynamic. “I firmly believe that Uttar Pradesh’s capability will be of great use in accelerating the country’s progress,” he noted.

‎Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, was formed on January 24, 1950. The day is marked annually with official programmes, cultural events, and exhibitions showcasing the state’s history, achievements, and development initiatives. This year’s celebrations come amid the BJP government’s continued emphasis on infrastructure expansion, industrial investment, and welfare schemes in the state.

‎Over the past decade, Uttar Pradesh has seen major projects such as new expressways, airports, and investment summits aimed at improving connectivity and attracting domestic and foreign investors.

The Prime Minister’s message on statehood day reinforces the ruling party’s narrative of transformation and development, positioning the state as a key driver of India’s growth story in the years ahead.
