Bhopal: The Bhopal City District Congress Committee on Wednesday submitted a written complaint and memorandum to the Election Commission, alleging serious irregularities in the electoral roll published after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The delegation was led by district president Praveen Saxena.
Saxena said the objective of the SIR exercise was to remove ineligible voters, eliminate duplicate entries and ensure that only genuine, eligible and resident voters remained on the rolls. However, he alleged that the process had failed to achieve its purpose. According to him, a large number of voter names, addresses and photographs remain unchanged from previous lists, raising doubts over whether physical verification was actually conducted.
He further claimed that names of deceased voters and those who have shifted residence continue to appear on the rolls, particularly in urban areas. The Congress demanded deletion or proper transfer of such entries, immediate removal of deceased voters’ names, and public disclosure of ward-wise details of Forms 6, 7 and 8 submitted so far.
