New Delhi Jan 20 (UNI) Delhi Government has approved key projects for three important flyovers across the Capital. These include planning of a new flyover on Janakpuri Pankha Road and major repair and rehabilitation works at Zakira and Seelampur flyovers.

To reduce traffic congestion in West Delhi, the government has approved the appointment of a consultant to carry out a feasibility study and prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed flyover on Janakpuri Pankha Road, from DESU Colony to Janakpuri D-Block.

The DPR will study traffic flow, road design, land availability and future transport needs to ensure the flyover is technically sound and future-ready.

City government has sanctioned Rs. 20.18 crore for repair and rehabilitation of the Zakira Flyover, one of Delhi’s busiest junctions and a chronic waterlogging spot during the monsoon.

The flyover carries heavy traffic and has shown signs of structural stress over time. The approved works include repair of damaged concrete, replacement of expansion joints and bearings, and strengthening of girders using carbon fibre-based technology to improve durability and safety.

Another Rs.17.85 crore has been approved for the comprehensive repair of the Seelampur Flyover in East Delhi, a key high-traffic corridor.

The project includes replacement of joints and bearings, prestressing of strands and structural strengthening using modern engineering techniques to restore load-bearing capacity.

PWD minister Parvesh Verma said the project is aimed at providing a long-term solution to growing congestion on the corridor.

“The government is moving away from temporary repairs and focusing on technology-driven solutions with strict timelines and accountability.” He added
