HP: Two youths arrested with 23.65 grams of Heroin in Bilaspur

Bilaspur(HP), Jan 20 (UNI) The Bharadi police in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, acting on a tip-off regarding drug trafficking, arrested two youths with 23.65 grams of heroin in a car, said an official spokesman here on Tuesday.

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, and further action is underway.

According to the information, the Bharadi police received a tip that a large consignment of heroin was being brought into the area from another state. Following this information, the Bharadi police set up a special checkpoint near the Bada Da Ghat Chowk on the road leading towards Saloh on Sunday night.

The police team maintained a vigilant watch for about eight hours. On Monday morning, a car of a certain colour approached the checkpoint, and the police signalled it to stop. Based on suspicion, the police searched the vehicle. During the search, when the panel near the driver’s seat was removed, heroin was recovered hidden near the car’s roof. The police immediately arrested both youths.

The accused have been identified as Pankaj Thakur and Vishal Thakur, residents of Bhadret.

DSP Vishal Verma said that the case is being investigated from all angles, and other people involved in this trafficking will also be arrested soon.

He stated that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act against the accused.
