PM likely to visit Kerala capital on Jan 23: Development blueprint to be unveiled

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Thiruvananthapuram on January 23, where he is expected to announce a comprehensive development blueprint for the Kerala capital.

The visit is seen as both administratively and politically significant, coming in the backdrop of recent local body election developments and ahead of the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.

Sources said the Prime Minister is likely to unveil a detailed roadmap for the transformation and development of Thiruvananthapuram city, with a focus on infrastructure, urban planning, and civic amenities.

The announcement is expected to outline long-term projects aimed at positioning the capital as a major growth and development hub.

The visit follows the BJP’s recent electoral success in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, a milestone the party has highlighted as a turning point in Kerala’s political landscape.

Senior BJP leaders had earlier indicated that the Prime Minister would personally visit the city soon after the local body victory to announce key development initiatives.

A large public event is likely to be organised in the city in connection with the visit, where the Prime Minister may address the public and party workers. The programme is expected to witness the participation of senior union Ministers, state BJP leaders, and elected representatives.

Political observers note that the visit assumes added importance in the context of the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, as the BJP steps up efforts to strengthen its presence in the state by combining governance-focused messaging with political outreach.

Further details regarding the Prime Minister’s itinerary and the specific projects to be announced are likely to be finalised in the coming days.
