NSUI warns of stir

Bhopal: Health services in the state capital are deteriorating rapidly, with alleged irregularities surfacing both in private and government healthcare institutions. While private hospitals are accused of flouting norms, government hospitals continue to suffer from an acute shortage of doctors, nursing staff and other employees. Amid this, the most serious concerns have been raised about the functioning of the CMHO office itself.

NSUI state vice-president Ravi Parmar on Tuesday protested against an order issued by Bhopal CMHO Dr Manish Sharma, alleging that unqualified staff have for years been assigned clerical and sensitive administrative work in violation of rules. He claimed that technical staff such as pharmacists and ophthalmic assistants have been made in charge of crucial branches, including the Nursing Home and PCPNDT sections, despite lacking administrative experience.

NSUI district president Akshay Tomar accused the CMHO of conducting “ill-conceived experiments” that are harming healthcare delivery. He warned of an agitation if such practices are not stopped and accountability fixed.
