Makaravilakku Special Express trains announced for Sabarimala pilgrims

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 13 (UNI) In view of the heavy rush of pilgrims during the Makaravilakku festival at Sabarimala, the Railways have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth, safe, and comfortable travel.

As part of these measures, additional Makaravilakku Special Express trains have been announced to clear the extra passenger load.

Train No. 06065 Kollam – Kakinada Town Express Special will depart from Kollam Junction at 03:30 am on Thursday, January 15, and reach Kakinada Town at 12:00 hrs on Friday.

Within the Thiruvananthapuram Division, the train will have scheduled halts at Kayamkulam Junction (04:00/04:02 am), Chengannur (04:30/05:15 am), Thiruvalla (05:25/05:27 am), Changanassery (05:38/05:40 am), Kottayam (06:00/06:15 am), Ernakulam Town (07:20/07:25 am), Aluva (08:10/08:12 am) and Thrissur (09:10/09:12 am).

In the return direction, Train No. 06066 Kakinada Town – Kollam Express Special will leave Kakinada Town at 6:28 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, and arrive at Kollam Junction at 10:30 pm on Saturday.

Another special service, Train No. 06067 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Charlapalli Express Special, will depart Thiruvananthapuram Central at 04:10 am on Thursday, January 15, and reach Charlapalli at 3 pm on Friday.

Within the Thiruvananthapuram Division, the train will stop at Kollam Junction, Chengannur (06:00/06:30 am), Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam (07:20/07:25 am), Ernakulam Town, Aluva, and Thrissur.

In the return direction, Train No. 06068 Charlapalli – Thiruvananthapuram Central Express Special will depart Charlapalli at 9:45 pm on Friday, January 16, and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Central at 08:00 am on Sunday.

Railway authorities said that a total of 336 Sabarimala Festival Special Trains have been introduced this year to ensure the convenience of lakhs of pilgrims travelling to and from the hill shrine during the Mandala–Makaravilakku season.
