Vadodara, Jan 12 (UNI) India all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against New Zealand due to injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Monday.
According to a BCCI statement, Sundar reported acute discomfort in his left lower rib area while bowling during the first ODI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday.
The 26-year-old will undergo further scans, following which the BCCI medical team will seek expert opinion.
As a result, Sundar will miss the remaining two matches of the IDFC First Bank ODI series.
The men’s selection committee has named Ayush Badoni as Sundar’s replacement. Badoni has received his maiden call-up to the ODI squad and will join the team in Rajkot ahead of the second match of the series.
India’s updated squad for the second and third ODIs comprises Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), and Ayush Badoni.
