Sirsa criticizes Kejriwal, Mann over Atishi’s alleged remarks on Sikh Guru

New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday sharply criticized Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Atishi, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, over an alleged comment by LoP Atishi.
Sirsa called the incident “insulting and shameful” and alleged that AAP leaders are now trying to cover it up by misusing power. He provided a detailed timeline, saying that on January 6, a discussion was underway in the Assembly under Article 270 of the Constitution to pay tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur. At 2 pm, he proposed the resolution, during which both BJP and AAP MLAs expressed their views.
Sirsa alleged that Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi refused to speak before making her remarks on Sikh Guru martyrdom. After her statement, the Chief Minister spoke until 3:48 PM.
“Immediately after that, at 3:49 PM, Atishi stood up and created a ruckus, demanding a discussion on pollution. During this, she used derogatory words about Guru Sahib,” he said, adding that the incident is clearly recorded in the Assembly’s live video.
Sirsa questioned the context in which Atishi used the words and said she has avoided answering because she knows it was a serious mistake.
He claimed that Atishi has not been seen publicly since the incident and challenged her to come forward and explain why she has not filed a complaint in Delhi.
He also alleged that AAP filed an FIR using police in Punjab to prevent the truth from emerging, even though the incident occurred in Delhi, the video was not uploaded from Punjab, and none of the accused have direct connections to the state.
He dismissed claims in the FIR that the video was “doctored and edited,” pointing out that the full Assembly proceedings remain publicly available on YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms.
Sirsa said the matter has now gone beyond politics, linking it to the honor of Guru Teg Bahadur, the Sikh faith, and India’s federal structure.
“The sin that Aurangzeb committed in the arrogance of power is the same that Kejriwal is repeating today in the arrogance of power.” Sirsa added
He also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to uphold his moral responsibility as a Sikh leader.
Sirsa said that despite attempts by AAP to suppress the truth, history cannot be changed with power or police support, and those involved in the incident will have to answer for their actions.
