Famous Punganur cow from AP became center of attraction

Bhopal: A special exhibition was organized by the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department on Sunday at the Jamburi Ground in Bhopal, on the occasion of the launch of “Farmer Welfare Year – 2026.”

The exhibition featured Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, and the famous Punganur breed of cows from Andhra Pradesh. The Punganur cows were a special attraction. On this occasion, department officials educated the farmers and livestock owners present at the event about animal nutrition, animal health, and breed improvement with the aim of increasing milk production.

The Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department set up more than five stalls at the Jamburi Ground, through which farmers and livestock owners were informed about various welfare schemes run by the Government of India and the state government.

An attractive exhibition of products made from cow dung, such as Ram Darbar, Mahakal idols, Panchagavya products, puja materials, and cosmetics, was also displayed at the venue. The department also showcased live demonstrations of the famous Kadaknath chicken and various breeds of goats from the state, with the aim of promoting poultry and livestock farming. An exhibition of dairy products produced by the Sanchi Milk Union was also featured.
