New Delhi/Gujarat, Jan 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday performed puja at the Somnath Temple in Gujarat and took part in events marking the Somnath Swabhiman Parv.
The Prime Minister also held a Shaurya Yatra in Somnath as part of the four-day programme being observed from January 8 to 11. The event marks 1,000 years since the first attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026 and is being commemorated across the country.
The PM also offers tributes to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Earlier, on Saturday evening, Modi chaired a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust. He said the meeting reviewed infrastructure upgrades at the temple complex and discussed ways to make the pilgrimage experience more comfortable and memorable for devotees.
Sharing his thoughts on X, the Prime Minister said he felt blessed to be in Somnath, calling it a proud symbol of India’s civilisational courage. He also thanked the people for the warm welcome extended to him.
During the celebrations, Modi participated in the collective chanting of Omkar Naad for 1,000 seconds, saying the experience filled him with positive energy and inner joy. He also witnessed a grand drone show at the Somnath temple, which showcased a blend of ancient faith and modern technology.
The Prime Minister said the drone display reflected India’s cultural strength and sent a powerful message from the sacred land of Somnath to the world.
