New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) The probe in the Ballari violence case has spiked the deep-seated conflict between Congress and BJP lawmakers in Karnataka as the case was shifted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday.
CID will examine all aspects of the violence that turned from local scuffle to murder case. Those responsible will be identified and submit all its findings to the authorities.
Speaking to the media, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge said, “The CBI has upheld the investigation done by the state in several cases. In some cases, even went to an extend of saying that the state teams did a better job compared to CBI.”
However Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that the Karnataka Police was capable of probing the Ballari violence incident and there was no need for a CBI probe.
The installation of banner near BJP MLA G Janardhan Reddy’s house by supporters of Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy commenced the tension between both the group. The verbal spa resorted to stone pelting and gunfire. Congress activist Rajashekar sustained a fatal bullet injury at the spot and late succumbed to his injuries.
Till date 26 have been arrested by the police belonging from both Congress and BJP. At Brucepet police station four FIRs have been registered.
In connection with the case, Karnataka police has also issued notices to more than 30 congress workers.
Emphasising on failure to control the law and order situation, the Congress state government has suspended Ballari Superintendent of Police Pavan Nejjur.
