New Delhi, 9 Jan (UNI) The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the NCR and Adjoining Areas hass issued closure directions to 16 industrial units located across the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday, citing persistent environmental violations.
Among the industries served, 14 are from the Sonipat district of Haryana, while the remaining two belong to Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, according to a statement issued by the pollution watchdog.
A range of environmental norms were flouted by these industries, including the use of unapproved fuels, emissions with visible smoke from industrial processes, non-compliance with norms for Diesel Generator (DG) sets, and missing or out-of-order Air Pollution Control Devices (APCDs), among others.
In an official document, the Commission reiterated that non-compliance will not be tolerated and that strict enforcement actions, including closure and other penal actions as per law, shall continue against defaulting industrial units.
All industries operating in the NCR are once again urged to strictly adhere to prescribed environmental norms, ensure proper installation and operation of APCDs, and ensure compliance at all times, the commission stated, alerting industries in the region.
