799 schools in MP selected under PM SHRI scheme

  • Selected schools to emerge as modern, inclusive, and future-ready centres of learning

Bhopal: Under the Central Government’s ambitious PM SHRI scheme, 799 government schools in Madhya Pradesh have been selected to be developed as model institutions. The state’s School Education Department is upgrading these schools in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on quality, innovation, and inclusiveness.

Extensive infrastructural improvements are being carried out each academic year, including the strengthening of classrooms, laboratories, and libraries. Under the Green School concept, solar panels are being installed, along with facilities for clean drinking water and improved sanitation, fostering environmental awareness among students.

Promoting digital and STEM-based learning

To promote digital and STEM-based learning, ICT labs, interactive panels, and digital libraries are being developed, while 458 Atal Tinkering Labs are being established to encourage innovation and scientific thinking. Emphasis is also being placed on students’ holistic development through sports facilities, yoga, music, career guidance, and mental health counselling.

Vocational education has been introduced in most PM SHRI schools to enhance employability skills. In addition, principals are receiving leadership training at premier institutions, and student safety is being strengthened through CCTV surveillance and fire safety measures.
