New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday stated that the “objectionable remarks” made by the Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi over revered Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur in the Delhi Assembly is something not only very unfortunate, but also exposes her party’s divisive mindset.
Addressing a press conference here, Sachdeva said that on Friday, the Delhi BJP Sikh Cell along with party workers will stage a protest outside the AAP office against the insult to the Sikh guru.
Delhi Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and BJP state unit media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that what happened is deeply regrettable, as the AAP leader insulted the revered Sikh guru with such objectionable remarks.
Taking a dig at AAP, Sachdeva claimed that the party must understand that people of Delhi now know their double standards, false narratives, and politics of insult.
“Those who turn the Assembly into a platform for disrespect will be given a fitting democratic response,” Sachdeva added.
The BJP leader hitting out at the AAP leader said that her statement is not an error, but a reflection of the AAP’s mindset that has repeatedly targeted the nation’s faith, culture, and respected communities.
The Delhi BJP warned that if Atishi does not immediately issue an unconditional public apology, and the AAP does not fix accountability for this anti-Sikh stance, the BJP’s agitation will be intensified and expanded further.
“There will be no compromise on the respect of the Sikh community,” the BJP leader added.
Meanwhile, Sachdeva also demanded that the Delhi Police probe those video creators who allegedly acted in coordination to incite people during the removal of encroachments around the mosque at Turkman Gate, as well as the presence of a Samajwadi Party MP Mohibullah Nabid, to ascertain whether they were part of a larger conspiracy.
