Czech National Bank’s gold reserves reach record 71.6 tonnes: Reports

Prague, Jan 8 (UNI/SPUTNIK) The Czech National Bank (CNB) purchased 20.4 tonnes of gold in 2025, reaching a record level of its gold reserves of 71.6 tonnes, the CTK news agency reported, citing CNB data.

Gold accounted for 5.76 percent of the bank’s total foreign exchange reserves, the report said on Wednesday. The CNB reportedly plans to increase its gold reserves to 100 tonnes by 2028.

The amount of gold purchased by the CNB last year was almost identical to the 2024 figure of 20.5 tonnes, as stated in the report.

The value of the CNB’s gold reserves reached USD 10.1 billion at the end of the year. Total foreign exchange reserves amounted to USD 175.8 billion. The majority of the CNB’s foreign exchange reserves are held in bonds, according to the report.
