Bhopal: International mountaineer and pride of Maehar district, Anjana Singh, was honoured by Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana at the Police Headquarters here on Wednesday for taking the Madhya Pradesh Police’s awareness campaign “Nashae se Doori Hai Zaroori” to Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. The DGP presented her with a citation, appreciating her efforts to spread a strong anti-drug message among youth at the global level.
Ms Singh unfurled the national tricolour atop Mount Elbrus and appealed to young people to say “no” to drugs, giving international visibility to the campaign and strengthening police-led community participation initiatives for a drug-free society.
A resident of Bendura Kala village in Amarpatan tehsil of Maehar district, Ms Singh comes from a modest background. Trained at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering, Manali, she has scaled several challenging peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro on Republic Day 2025. She is now preparing to conquer Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko.
