Palampur Police arrest two under NDPS act, seize 497 grams of Charas

Palampur, Jan 6 (UNI) The Palampur Police in Himachal Pradesh arrested two individuals after seizing 497 grams of charas from their car near Holta. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of local authorities to combat drug-related offenses in the region.

According to Kangra district Superintendent of Police Ashok Rattan, the contraband was found during a routine vehicle check. The car, with registration number HP-65A-2543, was stopped for inspection, leading to the discovery of the drugs.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jilhan village in Mandi district, who was driving the vehicle, and Shashi Kumar, a resident of Palampur in Kangra district, who was seated in the passenger seat. Both have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

A case has been filed at the Palampur Police Station under various sections of the NDPS Act, including Sections 20, 25, 29, 61, and 85. The investigation is ongoing.
