MP Police recover over 525 lost and stolen mobile phones across state

Bhopal: At the beginning of the New Year 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Police have reaffirmed that public safety, convenience and citizens’ trust remain their highest priorities. Demonstrating effective control over property-related crimes, the police recovered and returned more than 525 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners across several districts of the state. The recovered devices are estimated to be worth approximately Rs 1.15 crore.

The coordinated drive, carried out with the support of modern technology and sustained field efforts, highlights how the police are addressing public grievances with both technical efficiency and human sensitivity.

In Chhindwara, police successfully traced and returned 251 missing mobile phones valued at around Rs 47.11 lakh to their original owners.

In Bhopal, a special technical अभियान was conducted in Zone-04 using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Through systematic verification of missing complaints, IMEI-based tracking, monitoring of network activity and coordination with telecom service providers, police recovered 154 lost mobile phones worth Rs 27.20 lakh.

Similarly, in Narsinghpur, sustained technical analysis and ground-level action led to the recovery of 111 missing mobile phones valued at nearly Rs 40 lakh.

In Betul, Kotwali police cracked down on elements involved in mobile theft and illegal resale, arresting accused persons and seizing nine stolen phones worth ₹1.50 lakh.

This successful recovery drive has further strengthened public confidence in the police. The Madhya Pradesh Police have appealed to citizens to immediately report lost or stolen mobiles at the nearest police station and register details on the CEIR portal to ensure swift tracking and recovery.
