New Delhi, Dec 30 (UNI) As Delhi gears up to bid farewell to 2025, the city’s traffic police have issued a strict advisory for New Year’s Eve celebrations around Connaught Place, which lies in the center, an official said on Tuesday.
Anticipating massive crowds, officers will impose extensive vehicular restrictions from 7 pm on December 31 until the celebrations conclude.
According to the traffic police, no vehicle will be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond key points, including Mandi House, Bengali Market, R.K. Ashram Marg, Gole Market, Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, and several other intersections.
Entry into the inner, middle, and outer circles of Connaught Place will be strictly limited to vehicles with valid passes.
Motorists have been directed to park in designated areas surrounding Connaught Place, including Kali Bari Marg, Pt. Pant Marg, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Copernicus Marg, and several other spots.
Officials have warned that unauthorized parking will result in vehicles being towed away and prosecuted, a senior official said.
Access to New Delhi Railway Station from the south will be limited to specific routes, while Old Delhi Railway Station remains unaffected.
For north-south movement, commuters are advised to use Ring Road or alternative routes via Rani Jhansi Marg, Panchkuian Road, Mandir Marg, and Ashram.
East-west traffic is suggested to use Ring Road, Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, and Mother Teresa Crescent.
Traffic around India Gate will also be heavily regulated. In case of heavy pedestrian movement, vehicles may be diverted from major points including Q-Point, MLNP, Sunheri Masjid, Janpath, Windsor Place, and KG Marg-Ferozeshah Road.
In the statement, the officer urged the visitors to opt for public transport due to limited parking.
Commuters heading to ISBT, railway stations, or airports are warned to plan their travel well in advance.
