Car hits parked dumper; three youths killed, 3 critically injured

  • Birthday night turns fatal in Vidisha Road crash

Vidisha: A tragic road accident in Vidisha late Sunday night turned a birthday celebration into mourning. A car carrying six friends returning from a birthday party rammed into a dumper parked on the roadside at Melua intersection around 1:30 AM. The impact was so severe that three young men died on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries.

According to sub-inspector Shailendra Nayak of Kurwai Police Station, the deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Ankit Sahu, 19-year-old Tanmay Sharma, and 30-year-old Jagdish Sahu. Jagdish Sahu was driving the car, with Ankit seated in the front and Tanmay in the middle seat.

Police said the group had gone to Shivshankar Dhaba to celebrate Tanmay Sharma’s birthday. After the celebration, they were returning to Kurwai when the speeding car collided with a dumper that was reportedly parked on the roadside. The sudden crash gave the occupants no chance to escape.

The injured have been identified as Jagdish Gond, Monty Ahirwar, and Tanmay Srivastava. They were first taken to Kurwai Hospital and later referred to Vidisha District Hospital due to their critical condition.

Car mangled, rescue operation challenging

The collision was extremely severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely crushed and embedded into the rear of the dumper. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information. A JCB machine was deployed to pull out the trapped youths, and the car seats had to be cut to retrieve the bodies.

Tanmay Sharma, a first-year college student, lived near Jama Masjid in Ward Number 5 of Kurwai. His family includes his parents and an elder brother working in Bhopal. Jagdish Sahu owned a shop, while Ankit Sahu was employed in a private job. The incident has left the entire area in shock and grief.
