- Illegal bridge on Wainganga River demolished
Balaghat: The district administration is continuing its strict action against illegal sand mining and transportation. Acting on repeated complaints, a joint operation was carried out recently, by the Tehsildar of Balaghat and officials of the Mining Department at the Wainganga River in Gaykhuri village of Balaghat tehsil.
Deputy Director of Mines, Farhat Jahan, informed that a temporary bridge constructed across the Wainganga River at Gaykhuri was being used for illegal sand mining and transportation. The bridge was demolished using a JCB machine to prevent further unlawful activity. In addition, the approach road to the river was completely blocked to ensure that illegal mining and transportation of sand could not continue.
Jahan stated that the district administration will maintain continuous monitoring and take stringent action against illegal mining, storage and transportation of sand. She warned that anyone found violating mining rules and regulations will face strict legal action, reiterating the administration’s commitment to protecting natural resources and enforcing the law.
