New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) In an advisory issued on Sunday, Delhi Airport advised passengers to check the status of their flights with the respective airlines before heading to the airport, amid weather-related conditions in parts of north India.
Visibility dropped sharply in the early hours as dense smog blanketed large parts of the capital on Sunday.
The IMD reported extremely poor visibility, with Safdarjung recording just 100 metres and Palam around 500 metres at 8 am, disrupting normal morning movement in several areas.
Airlines meanwhile flagged the possibility of delays on certain routes due to fog. IndiGo, in a travel advisory posted on X on Sunday morning, said fog continues to linger over Hindon Airport, leading to slower flight movements.
The airline said departures and arrivals to and from the city, as well as some routes across its network, may experience short delays.
Passengers were advised to check the latest flight status on the airline’s website or mobile app before leaving for the airport.
Earlier, Air India had issued a travel advisory on Saturday night warning of dense fog and reduced visibility forecast for parts of northern India, including Chandigarh, Amritsar and Varanasi. The airline said the weather could impact flight operations to and from these cities.
While proactive steps have been taken to minimise disruptions, Air India said there could still be delays, diversions or cancellations, and assured that ground staff would be available to assist passengers.
With winter fog continuing to affect visibility across parts of north India, travellers have been advised to remain alert to official updates and plan their journeys accordingly.
