Delhi CM lays foundation of Atal Garden in Uttam Nagar

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said the foundation stone was laid for the development of Atal Garden in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi.

She said the garden, which is coming up in a densely populated area, will bring freshness to the air, help bring down pollution, and also provide the locals with modern amenities, cleanliness, and an organized public space.

Taking to social media platform X, CM stated that the Atal Garden project is inspired by former PM Vajpayee’s thought, according to which development moves ahead along with nature and culture.

According to CM, the project is also an effort aimed to transform a neglected piece of land near the Najafgarh drain, into a beautiful and accessible public park, where people from all walks of life, including children, elderly, and families can come and spend time.

Facilities such as a pond and Chhath Ghat will be developed in Atal Garden, something which plays and important role during the Chhath festival where the devotees perform their rituals and observe the fast standing in water.

Notably, a 12-foot-tall statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be installed at the park, along with attractive fountains,

Interestingly, apart from greenery, landscaping and open plazas will be created in the park, so that people will be able to spend time with nature.

The garden will also have walking paths, an amphitheater, a playground, and also a provision for a proper food court.

There will be proper arrangements for public conveniences, and the government will also develop this as a secure palce.

Meanwhile, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Delhi’s PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, MLA Pawan Sharma, Sandeep Sehrawat, Shyam Sharma and district president of the BJP Raj Sharma, were also present on the occasion.
