Bhopal: In a major step towards strengthening cyber security and citizen-centric policing, Madhya Pradesh has rolled out the e-Zero FIR system, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Cyber-Secure India”. The initiative was launched under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, making Madhya Pradesh the second state after Delhi to implement the system.
The e-Zero FIR facility is aimed at ensuring swift action in cases of cyber financial fraud involving losses of more than Rs 1 lakh. The system enables the automatic registration of FIRs through digital platforms, eliminating jurisdictional delays and allowing investigations to begin immediately.
The formal launch took place during the Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit in Gwalior, where Amit Shah inaugurated the initiative and handed over the first e-Zero FIR copy to Chief Minister Dr Yadav. Senior Union and State leaders were present on the occasion.
Designed under the new Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the system integrates the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the CCTNS network. Victims can lodge complaints via the 1930 helpline or online portal, with cases being digitally processed and forwarded to the concerned police station.
Officials said the move would help secure critical digital evidence during the crucial “golden hour”, improve chances of fund recovery and reinforce public trust in technology-driven justice delivery.
