AAP targets BJP over Ankita Bhandari case, questions relief to Kuldeep Sengar

New Delhi, (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that the BJP’s public slogans on women’s safety stand in contrast to its handling of cases involving leaders linked to crimes against women.
The AAP was referring to recent developments related to the Ankita Bhandari murder case in Uttarakhand and the relief granted to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the party believes the justice system appears to function unevenly under BJP rule.
He claimed that while survivors and their families often face police action and hardship, accused persons with political influence receive protection. According to him, this reflects not just systemic failure but also the mindset of those in power.
Addressing a press conference, Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar referred to fresh claims made by the wife of a former BJP MLA in Uttarakhand, who has publicly named BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam in connection with the circumstances surrounding Ankita Bhandari’s murder in 2022.
Kuldeep Kumar alleged that Ankita was killed after she refused to provide “special service” to a senior BJP leader. He also questioned the demolition of the resort linked to the case, alleging it was done to destroy evidence.
Kuldeep Kumar said the Ankita Bhandari case is not an isolated incident and accused the BJP of repeatedly shielding its leaders in cases involving crimes against women.
He demanded that BJP President Nitin Nabin clarify what action the party intends to take regarding the allegations and called for the registration of an FIR and an impartial investigation.
AAP leader Rakhi Birla said the allegations disclosed by the former MLA’s wife warrant a thorough and independent probe.
She demanded that the Prime Minister and the union Home Minister order a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the Ankita Bhandari case and sought the resignation of the BJP leader named in the allegations until the investigation is completed. UNI ATK SSP
