New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Wednesday launched a 15-day Special Cleanliness Drive across the NDMC areas.
The initiative began on the eve of Christmas with a Special Wet and Dry Cleaning Programme at Sacred Heart Cathedral and Gole Dak Khana Roundabout during evening and night hours. Similar operations were conducted near other churches and prominent religious sites.
NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said the drive, scheduled from 24 December 2025 to 7 January 2026, aims to maintain high standards of sanitation in areas of national significance that host VVIP offices, Parliament, foreign embassies, and central government offices. He noted that festive season celebrations attract large numbers of tourists, making cleanliness and hygiene a top priority.
Under the drive, NDMC will carry out routine morning and evening cleaning alongside special night-time wet and dry cleaning. The initiative also includes washing trees, pruning branches, removing dry leaves, and clearing debris from roads, footpaths, green belts, markets, parks, and other public spaces to enhance cleanliness and the aesthetic appeal of the area.
Special duty rosters have been assigned to sanitation staff, officers, and employees to ensure smooth implementation.
