Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Amit Sharma on Tuesday levelled serious allegations against the BJP-led state government, accusing it of presiding over corruption and “paper-based development” despite two decades of rule.
Addressing a press conference, Sharma said the BJP’s claims of a “golden” and “developed” Madhya Pradesh had been exposed by a series of scams. He alleged that an organised recruitment racket, similar to the Vyapam scam, had taken place in the Dabhaura Nagar Parishad of Rewa district, which was formed in 2020 by merging seven gram panchayats. According to him, a local BJP MLA, the then Chief Municipal Officer (CMO), joint director and other officials were directly involved.
Sharma claimed that employees who had been working for years were denied their legal rights to adjustment and regularisation. Instead, relatives of the MLA, his personal assistant, and family members of senior officials were allegedly appointed illegally.
He further alleged that while only 21 posts were sanctioned, around 50 appointments were made without advertisement, reservation, roster or approval, using fake proposals and committees. Bogus pay slips were prepared and inflated salaries shown, leading to an alleged misappropriation of Rs 2–5 crore through suspicious bank transactions.
Questioning the probe, Sharma said officials facing allegations were included in the inquiry committee, ensuring no action. He demanded an independent investigation, cancellation of illegal appointments and strict legal action, warning that Congress would approach the Lokayukta and the courts.
