Bhopal gets gift of Metro, services now operational in two major cities of MP: CM Dr. Yadav

Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh has received several new milestones over the past week. He said that, in the distinguished presence of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, the Metro train was inaugurated in Bhopal, and the map of the state’s first ‘Bhopal Metropolitan Area’ was also unveiled. He informed that the Bhopal Metropolitan Area comprises Bhopal district along with the adjoining districts of Raisen, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Sehore, and Narmadapuram. The area will comprise a total of 12 urban bodies and 30 tehsils, covering around 2,524 villages with a total geographical area of 12,099 square kilometres.

Chief MinisterDr. Yadav delivered the pre-cabinet address. The ministers expressed their appreciation and warmly congratulated the Chief Minister, applauding the series of new initiatives and developmental milestones achieved by Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal receives Metro services

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed the ministers that Bhopal has been gifted Metro services. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal inaugurated the Bhopal Metro train on 20 December. In the first phase, the Metro operates on a 7-kilometre stretch from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS, comprising a total of eight stations. He said that Indore and Bhopal, the two major cities of Madhya Pradesh, have now become part of an ultra-modern public transport network through Metro rail services.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that the Central Government has also approved the construction of a 3.3-kilometre underground Metro stretch in Indore. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal for these initiatives.

Union Health Minister Shri Nadda to perform Bhoomi Poojan of medical colleges in Dhar and Betul on 23 December

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that four medical colleges will be established in the state under the PPP model. The foundation stone-laying ceremonies for medical colleges in Dhar and Betul districts will be held on 23 December. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri J. P. Nadda will perform Bhoomi Poojan for these two medical colleges on Tuesday. He said that Shri Nadda will first lay the foundation stone and inaugurate other development works in Dhar in the forenoon and thereafter proceed to Betul, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate medical college-related and other development works in the afternoon. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi and Union Minister Shri Nadda for these initiatives.

Union Home Minister to visit Gwalior and Rewa on 25 December

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah will visit Madhya Pradesh on 25 December. Shri Shah will participate in the event to be held in Gwalior and Rewa on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. He informed that Shri Shah will attend the ‘Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh’ Growth Summit in Gwalior from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on 25 December. On this occasion, works worth more than ₹2 lakh crore will be inaugurated and foundation stones laid, and letters of intent/allotment orders will be distributed to investors. The Union Home Minister will also inaugurate a fair in Gwalior, after which he will proceed to Rewa to participate in an Agriculture and Farmers’ Conference.

11th International Van Mela

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the 11th International Van Mela is being organised at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal and will continue till 23 December. He informed that Nepal, Bhutan and several other countries have set up their stalls at the fair. States including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Chhattisgarh are also participating. He said that more than 350 stalls of herbal and Ayurvedic medicines have been set up, with services being provided by 80 Ayurvedic doctors and over 100 traditional vaidyas. The fair also features 26 food stalls offering regional delicacies such as Dal Pania from Alirajpur, Van Rasoi from Chhindwara and traditional dishes from Bandhavgarh.

Ministers sharing details of two years’ achievements; press conferences to continue till 30 December

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that on the completion of two years of the state government, all ministers are presenting department-wise achievements of the past two years to the public through press conferences. He stated that this series of press conferences will continue until 30 December.

He noted that press conferences of the Finance and Commercial Tax Department, Tribal Affairs Department, Urban Development and Housing Department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Labour Department, Public Works Department, New and Renewable Energy Department, Revenue Department and Energy Department have already been held. The Chief Minister asked ministers to ensure proper documentation of their departments’ achievements and to present them comprehensively to the media so that the government’s accomplishments reach the maximum number of citizens.

Vrindavan villages selected in 193 of 230 Assembly constituencies

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed ministers about the ambitious initiative to develop one Vrindavan village in each Assembly constituency of the state. Under this scheme, villages with a minimum population of 2,000 and at least 500 cattle are being selected. The selection is being carried out by district collectors in consultation with the in-charge ministers and local MLAs. He said that out of 230 Assembly constituencies, Vrindavan villages have already been selected in 193 constituencies, while the process is pending in 37. The Chief Minister directed all ministers to expedite the selection process in the remaining constituencies. He also informed that a monitoring committee has been constituted at the district level under the chairmanship of the in-charge minister, and it is mandatory to hold one meeting every three months. Ministers were instructed to ensure that these meetings are held regularly.

Meetings of District Development Advisory Committees to be held in January

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed ministers to convene meetings of District Development Advisory Committees and other important district-level committees between 1 and 24 January 2026 in their respective charge districts. He said that many key decisions related to district development are taken in these committees, which are chaired by the in-charge ministers.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav specifically mentioned meetings of the District Development Advisory Committee (with the minister as Vice-Chairperson), Rogi Kalyan Samiti (General Body), District Management Committee of the District Urban Development Agency, Vrindavan Village Monitoring Committee and other similar bodies. He also asked ministers to complete any pending nominations to such committees during this period.

Aarogya Seva Sankalp Conference

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that the Aarogya Seva Sankalp Conference was organised in the state on 18 December. He said that doctors from all systems of medicine participated in the conference, with a large number of youths from tribal communities taking part. He stated that during the programme, primary treatment kits were distributed to Aarogya Rakshak volunteers in PESA areas, and interactions were held with selected tribal beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The Chief Minister said that this initiative would be remembered as a very significant step in the history of the state.
