New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI): The air quality in national capital Delhi and nearby areas continued to hover in the ‘severe’ category on Sunday morning. A number of key areas in the city recorded AQI well over 400 mark in early morning time.
As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) figures, the AQI stood at 438 in Akshardham, ITO, Ghazipur and Anand Vihar areas of Delhi.
The AQI in Barapullah flyover recorded 382, while at Dhaula Kuan, it was 397, both falling under the ‘very poor’ category for human life.
However, there has been some improvement in AQI compared to Saturday, when it breached well past the 500 mark in many areas.
The air quality in the city has shown some improvements as day progressed on Sunday. Around 12 noon, the concentration of PM10 particles was recorded at 270 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m³), while the more hazardous PM2.5 levels stood at 200 µg/m³.
As per the AQI, 0-50 is good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 is moderate, 201-300 is poor, while 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is severe.
