New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) Delhi’s PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Saturday undertook ‘Govt on Wheels- 3’, which is an on-ground inspection drive to review road conditions, ongoing development works and completed projects across key corridors across southern part of the capital.
The minister accompanied by officials covered a stretch beginning from MSO Building to Sarai Kale Khan, Ashram, Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, BRT Road, Chirag Delhi, IIT Delhi and RK Puram.
Senior officials of PWD, Jal Board , Irrigation Department who accompanied the minister, took note of the observations made during the inspection, enabling real-time assessment of work execution.
During the drive, the Minister closely examined road resurfacing quality, junction improvements, footpaths, drainage and traffic movement.
Verma stopped at several locations to inspect pedestrian subways, retaining walls, and public road wall paintings, underlining the government’s focus on both functionality and aesthetics in urban infrastructure.
Speaking during the inspection, Verma said road condition have improved in Delhi, and many tenders have been completed.
“In regular intervals , I take all officials on a bus to inspect the roads. This ensures that what is shown in files is actually visible on the ground, and that the quality delivered matches what was promised,” he added.
He emphasised that such inspections are crucial to fix gaps between planning and execution.
The officers who were present on the occasion were instructed to immediately flag unfinished works, quality deviations and coordination issues with other agencies, and ensure time-bound corrective action.
“Governance cannot happen from air-conditioned offices alone. When officers see the ground reality themselves, accountability increases and results improve. The ‘Govt on Wheels’ is about making the system answerable to the people,” Verma added.
He interacted with the field engineers and staff, issuing on-the-spot directions to expedite pending works and maintain strict quality benchmarks.
Special emphasis was laid on ensuring pedestrian safety, smooth traffic flow and long-term durability of roads.
The Delhi government has reiterated that on-ground reviews will continue regularly, ensuring that public infrastructure projects are completed on time with transparency and uncompromising quality standards.
