New Delhi: The Congress Party on Tuesday welcomed a landmark court ruling that declared the Enforcement Directorate (ED) proceedings against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the Young Indian case “completely illegal and malafide.”
In a statement, the party highlighted that the court found the ED case lacked jurisdiction and noted that no FIR had been registered, effectively rendering the case baseless. The ruling exposes what Congress described as a politically motivated prosecution by the Modi government over the past decade.
The party said, “This politically motivated prosecution by the Modi government over the last decade, of the principal opposition party stands exposed before the people of India.”
“No case of money laundering, no proceeds of crime, and no movement of property—these baseless charges were part of a political witch hunt, propaganda campaign, and attempt at reputational assassination. Today, all of that stands defeated,” the Congress said in a statement posted on X.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to fighting for truth and protecting the rights of every Indian. “We cannot, and will not ever be intimidated—because we fight for the truth. Satyamev Jayate,” the statement added.
The verdict marks a significant moment in India’s political landscape, underscoring the judiciary’s role in upholding legal processes and curbing the misuse of investigative powers.
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday ruled that the Enforcement Directorate’s case against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald/Young Indian case is illegal and malafide.
The case was found to be without jurisdiction, and no FIR exists, rendering the proceedings baseless. The Congress party termed it a victory for truth, highlighting the politically motivated nature of the decade-long probe.UNI AAB
