Bhopal: The Mantralaya Seva Adhikari Karanchari Sangh has announced a temporary suspension of its agitation following a strong message from the Chief Minister on the occasion of completing two years in office. Union president Sudhir Nayak said the Chief Minister had made it clear that anyone who disrespects women will not be spared, irrespective of their position.

Nayak expressed gratitude to political leaders who extended support to the movement and paid special thanks to journalists and media professionals across the state for prominently highlighting the issue.

He said that all forms of agitation, including the proposed gherao of the Chief Minister’s residence on December 14, have been put on hold for 10 days. The decision was taken at a core group meeting of the general category and Brahmin community leaders.

The meeting was attended by Sakal Brahmin Samaj Joint Struggle Front convener Virendra Sharma, MP Parshuram Kalyan Board chairman Vishnu Rajoria, union president Eng. Sudhir Nayak, Ramnarayan Awasthi, Rakesh Chaturvedi, Pushpendra Mishra, Gaurishankar ‘Kaka’, Rambabu Sharma, Dinesh Tiwari, Ashok Bhardwaj and several other employee and community leaders.

The agitation, which had continued for 18 days in Bhopal and other states, was launched over an alleged objectionable remark made by IAS officer Santosh Verma on November 23, 2025. A ‘Shankhnaad’ protest was also held outside Vallabh Bhavan on Friday.

The union claimed the movement had yielded results, with the state’s General Administration Department writing to the Union Government on December 12, 2025, seeking withdrawal of Verma’s promotion. The situation will be reviewed after 10 days before announcing the next course of action.
