Congress MP Raja Warring raises Gangster-Terrorism in Punjab in Parliament

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring Thursday sounded the alarm over the growing menace of gangster-terrorism in Punjab, alleging that the state government and police are turning a blind eye to the situation.

“There is an atmosphere of fear across the entire Punjab. People are receiving calls from abroad and from prisons, and ransom is being demanded. Those who refuse to pay are being murdered,” Warring said in the Lok Sabha.

He cited the recent Ludhiana shooting incident, where two people were killed in broad daylight.

He alleged that the Shiromani Akali Dal has given a ticket to a gangster, who is now threatening sarpanches and bureaucrats.

“The situation is such that gangsters are now calling and threatening bureaucrats. Despite all this, the state government and police are remaining silent spectators,” Warring said, urging the Home Minister to take cognisance of the matter.

Warring’s remarks highlight the growing concern over the increasing influence of gangsters in Punjab’s politics and the alleged nexus between politicians and underworld elements.
