Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police’s Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) is steadily emerging as a cornerstone in shaping the future leadership of the state’s police force. Designed to cultivate contemporary thinking, strategic insight and a broadened understanding of modern policing, the programme aims to prepare officers for the evolving challenges of law and order management with enhanced competence and accountability.

The latest edition of the programme commenced on 27 November at the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, inaugurated by Academy Director Mohammad Shahid Absar, with Deputy Director Dr Sanjay Kumar Agrawal also in attendance. A total of 30 State Police Service officers, each having completed twelve years of service, are participating in this fifth instalment of the initiative.

Spanning more than four weeks, the training is being conducted across four prestigious national and international institutions. From 27 to 29 November, officers underwent intensive sessions at the Police Academy, followed by training at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management from 1 to 2 December. Subsequently, they attended specialised modules at the National Law University, New Delhi, from 4 to 6 December, where they engaged with topics including social legislation, e-governance, public order, victimology, inter-departmental coordination and relevant legal frameworks.

Since 8 December, the cohort has been undergoing advanced training at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. In addition to academic instruction, the officers will visit British policing institutions to gain first-hand exposure to global best practices. Key areas of focus include crime harm index methodology, predictive policing techniques and approaches to combating crimes against women.

The programme will conclude on 30 December with a comprehensive debriefing session, culminating a rigorous and enriching experience aimed at strengthening the state’s policing capabilities for the years ahead.
