Bhopal auto driver celebrates Dharmendra’s birthday

  • Gives free rides all day

Bhopal: Hindi cinema legend Dharmendra turns 90 today, and his devoted fan Kailash Raikwar has chosen a heartwarming way to celebrate. The Bhopal-based auto-rickshaw driver is ferrying passengers across the city without charging a single rupee. Since early morning, more than 20 people have enjoyed free rides in his auto, decorated in honor of his favourite superstar.

Dharmendra commands a huge fan base in Bhopal, where two dedicated fan clubs — Dharmendra Ek Anmol Ratna International Fans Club and Gajab Dharam Ji Fans Club — have been celebrating his birthday for years. Kailash, who founded the Gajab Dharam Ji Fans Club nearly two decades ago, says that honoring Dharmendra has become a tradition of love and respect for him.

A fan’s devotion on four wheels

Kailash shared that he organizes special events every year on the actor’s birthday. Even Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife, is aware of his celebrations. This year, he decided to offer free auto-rickshaw rides from 7 a.m. until evening as a tribute to the evergreen star. “It’s my way of thanking Dharam Ji for the joy he has given us,” he said.

His celebration doesn’t stop at birthdays. Whenever a new film starring Dharmendra or any member of his family releases, Kailash and his friends watch it together. In August, they marked 50 years of the cult classic Sholay, which originally released on August 15, 1975.

For Kailash, Dharmendra is not just a star — he is an emotion that continues to drive his life, literally and proudly.
