NSUI demands closure of illegal clinic

Bhopal: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has raised serious concerns over an allegedly illegal clinic operating inside the VIT University campus without any statutory approval. NSUI state vice-president Ravi Parmar has filed complaints with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and senior officials of the Health Department and district administration, demanding an immediate FIR, sealing of the clinic, and strict legal action against those responsible.

Parmar cited a letter issued by the Higher Education Department on 1 December, stating that VIT University had neither obtained permission from the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Sehore, nor secured a no-objection certificate from the Pollution Control Board. He said this proved the clinic’s operations were entirely unlawful.

He further alleged that negligence by unqualified medical staff at the clinic led to nearly 35 students falling seriously ill, with one student tragically losing his life due to wrong treatment and unsafe medical practices.

District NSUI president Akshay Tomar warned that the unauthorised clinic posed grave risks, including infection, improper medication, and unlawful biomedical waste disposal. He said the organisation would launch statewide protests if prompt action was not taken.
