UGC NET December Exam schedule released; starts December 31

Bhopal: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially announced the dates for the UGC NET December 2025 examination. The critical national-level test for teaching and research will commence on December 31 and conclude on January 7.

City slips and admit cards timeline

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the city slips—allowing candidates to make necessary travel arrangements—ten days prior to the start of the examination. The official admit cards will be released four days before the test begins. Candidates who completed the application process by the November 7 deadline can download their city center details and admit cards from the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

This year, the exam will be conducted for a total of 85 subjects, with lakhs of aspirants participating. The UGC NET is a mandatory qualification for becoming an Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Success in the exam also offers the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), which provides a monthly fellowship for pursuing Ph.D. research.
