- To blend tradition, art and women empowerment
Bhopal: The city celebrated for its Nawabi charm, rich heritage, and timeless traditions is once again preparing to host a vibrant cultural showcase. The sixth edition of the Pari Bazaar Heritage Festival, an annual initiative of the “Begums of Bhopal,” will unfold from December 11 to 14 at the historic Gauhar Mahal. Organized by the Women’s Education and Empowerment Society (WES), this year’s festival is themed “Empowered Madhya Pradesh,” highlighting the strength of women, the beauty of local art, and the essence of the state’s cultural legacy.
Festival coordinator Rakhshan Shamim Zahid said the theme reflects fresh thinking, an evolving society, and a renewed rhythm of age-old traditions, bringing women’s talent and heritage together on one inclusive platform. Supported by the Women and Child Development Department and the Veer Bharat Trust, the event will feature key dignitaries including Binu Dhir and Sehba Farhat.
The festival lineup includes a captivating Dastangoi performance by Fauzia Dastango on December 12, followed by a Maheshwari-themed fashion show dedicated to Queen Ahilyabai Holkar on December 13, and a soulful Sufi Night by the Sabri Brothers as the grand finale on December 14. Alongside this, senior artist Faisal Mateen will curate a painting exhibition showcasing fifty heritage buildings of Bhopal. The festival will also honor over twenty women who have made remarkable contributions to society, adding yet another inspiring dimension to the celebration.
